One would think that BP should have been working on a Plan B long before the realization that Plan A -- the top kill would not work.  Pray that a hurricane or a change in Gulf winds/currents do not push this mess towards the upper Texas Gulf coast.

I read a "conspiracy theory" article a week or so ago saying that BP did NOT want to stop the flow of the oil. If they were to stop the leak, they would never be allowed to drill in the Gulf again. By drilling their relief well, they could still get the oil to help offset the costs of the mess they made. At first, I didn't believe it, because how could anyone allow the leak to continue. As the leaks continues, well, now I'm not so sure...

The logistical and technical challenges of stopping this disaster may be greater than anyone imagined.
