Concession stand menu?
« on: September 08, 2008, 10:43:02 PM »
Has anyone heard what will be on the new menu?  With these nice huge facilities, we can not offer the usual popcorn, pizza and nachos.

at one time last year there was a web site to vote on drinks, (coke products vs pepsi products) however, I don't know which one won.... I suggested funnel cakes for something sweet.  BBQ sandwiches would be great.  I'll see what I can find out.....

I am certain it will be coke products this year, but beyond that, I have no clue what the menu will entail.  I for one, am glad the menu is small, it helps the line move faster so I can get back to the game before half time is over!!!

At Crosby, they sold Chick-filet sandwiches. we need to add new items to the concession stand. With the great food in the area, I'm sure we could offer some outstanding choices.

Ok, so I know this doesn't really make people very excited, however, it is my understanding that under the circumstances, we will be sticking with what we got as far as food and drinks.  That means Pizza Inn pizza, popcorn, and candy.  We will also be sticking with Pepsi products for now.  Now, if you would like a link, you can always hit up a volleyball game, basketball game, or baseball game.  Thats all I know for now.  I hope that helps and I know it doesn't really put a smile on your face, but I know that all we really need is some football.

I agree, the drinks should be bigger, a bigger cup is not going to greatly impact the margin (if it is a fountain drink).  That is why all the fast food guys give you free refills.

I hope the 20oz drinks will be in a bottle rather than a melted ice watered down cup.  But thank goodness we have some different food on the menu!!!!

So, does this mean that Mr. Matts is no longer the concession stand manager?
The thing about being an Indian is that you're an Indian, no matter what. It doesn't matter if you play soccer or a tuba, it doesn't matter if you're on the football team or the drill team, it doesn't matter if you lead the cheers or the jeers. You're still part of that "Honor, Pride, & Tradition."

The drinks were in a bottle at last year's games in the stadium and it was coke products, not pepsi.  Also the menu is the same as it was last year.  They  had Billy Joe's sandwiches last year always.

That is correct.  Mr. Matts accepted a teaching job for a different district.  He dedicated a great deal to PNG.  Mr. Matts left during the middle of last year, and upon his departure, Coach Burnett took over the duties of supplying the concession stand.  I don't know if Burnett will continue with this or if the district has put someone else in charge.

If the cafeteria workers are doing it, I have one question.  Are any profits going to pay their salaries or is it our of tax monies? I have a good suggestion--Lamar PA has a food service program and students who would love to gain some "catering" experience and it would cost us nothing! Our students could coop with Lamar, also. It would provide students a great opportunity to learn and I bet their food would be much better, also.  After attending Nederland and Vidor games and seeing how their concessions are run, its a shame that we have such a great stadium and poor concessions (in the past).  Hopefully, we'll have something to be proud of. I do know that Matt Burnett is NOT doing the concessions.  Something doesn't make sense here.

This did not happen because someone within our administration said no to a free program and learning experience - how do you lose money on a concession stand of this magnitude with this many home games and a packed house at these games?  I would imagine it would be a loss if you had to pay overtime to the workers instead of allowing the students to volunteer.
